Weird Scholarships

Student scholarships are awarded to the best students based on several eligibility criteria. A student needs to have a great GPA score, must write the best essays, have strong personality skills, must be good in extracurricular activities, and should be talented in a whole lot of other things.

This post shows you a few really weird scholarships in America. There are more “somewhat strange” scholarships available, though. In a next post, I’ll show you some more.

The application process is really tough on students, to say the least. However, there are some organizations that spare students all this trouble. They give out easy scholarships at the drop of the hat. Below are some really weird and unusual scholarships.

Tall Clubs International Scholarships

To win this strange scholarship, you don’t have to have skills – just a good height. Yes, your height counts even if you are the brainiest in your class. Tall Clubs International Scholarship is awarded to boys who are 6’2” or more and to girls who are 5’10” or more.

You need to write an essay about what your height means to you. If you get the reasons right and if they strike a chord with the evaluators, you get $1,000 in your pocket.

Wholesale Halloween Costumes Scholarships

Here is an odd scholarship that tests your creative skills, although in a weird way. Aspirants for the scholarship need to create the scariest Halloween costume and write an essay describing why they created it and what makes the costume scariest for kids.

You also need to describe how your costume is apt for Halloween. If yours is the goriest costume and the best-written essay, you win a scholarship of $1,000. It may also help to teach your kid a foreign language.

I Was Born In 1995 Scholarship

ScholarshipsExpert gives out a unique scholarship to one person who was born in 1995. Period. You don’t even have to write an essay for this. So, we really don’t know what the eligibility criteria are.

All that the scholarship mentions is that the aspirant needs to be a citizen of America and must be born in 1995. If you satisfy this sole criterion, apply and keep your fingers crossed. The award offered is – did you guess it? – $1,995 of course.

Duct Tape Club Scholarship

If you thought that creating scary Halloween costumes was bad enough, here is another scholarship along similar lines. In this case, you need to create a prom costume for yourself and your partner using Duck Tape. Winners receive a $5,000 scholarship for themselves and another $5,000 for their school.

Zombie Apocalypse Scholarships

Zombies definitely seem to be ruling the world. So, this wacky scholarship deals with zombies and believes that zombies visit classrooms and play around with school kids.

If you want to win the Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship of $1,000, you need to develop the best hiding plan and choose five things that you would defend yourself with. If your plan works and the evaluators think that you would be the last survivor, they give you your hard-earned $1,000. Minorities, by the way, can also apply for specific “Minority Scholarships.” Check here for more details.

Beans for Brains Scholarship

If you love to knit and crochet, you could try your hand at this scholarship. The Beans for Brains Scholarship is awarded by Jimmy Beans Wool Store and is open to US citizens and international students in their undergraduate or graduate studies. The only eligibility criterion is your love for knitting. Six weird scholarships, each of $3,000, are awarded every year.

American Nudist Research Library Scholarship

This one is really weird. You can win $1,000 if you are ready to take your clothes off and live in the nudist colony. If you are really desperate for a scholarship, this one is for you. We guess that competition here will be fairly less because we doubt if a lot of people would care to live with their clothes off all the time.

Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Contest

If you have a penchant for making animal noises, this is one scholarship for you. To win the $2,000 scholarship on offer, all you have to do is let out the duck in you.

Make the most natural duck sounds and the scholarship is in your bag. This is an annual scholarship. So, you can start practicing for the coming year. Good Luck with that. Well, these are “weird” scholarships, right? But check out also our post about NASA scholarships and grants and you may find that you’re even eligible for one of those!

If you surf through all the available scholarships, you will find a lot of other scholarships are really weird. But if you have that special quirk that these scholarships require, try your luck. Probably, you can bag a few thousand grand. And there are also numerous activities with regard to math and science programs.
